We are the Oregon Child Development Coalition. A non-profit organization established in 1971, the Oregon Child Development Coalition grew out of a statewide, response to a tragic farm accident involving the death of a young child. Originally incorporated under the name, the Migrant Indian Coalition, the mission of the organization was to ensure access to early childhood care and education opportunities for Oregon’s most vulnerable populations, most notably Oregon’s migrant farm workers.

Some years later, transitioning into the role of state grantee for the federal Migrant Seasonal Head Start program, the organization was reincorporated under the name, the Oregon Child Development Coalition. In the thirty-six years that have passed since the organization’s founding, the Oregon Child Development Coalition has evolved into one of the largest early childhood education networks in Oregon.

Honoring our roots and moving confidently into the future, the Oregon Child Development Coalition remains committed to excellence around providing early childhood care and education opportunities to children and families in need to promote growth and independence.
